Ruth Blair Obituary

Ruth Blair

Knoxville, TN

Mrs. Ruth Dorothy Louise (Kressin) Blair, Knoxville, Tennessee, concluded her courageous battle against cancer at Tennova Residential Hospice March 8, 2015. A loving wife, sister, friend, and mother, Mrs. Blair inspired a legacy of hope, goodness, and perseverance since her birth in Hanover, Ontario Canada February 12, 1931. Her father was a Lutheran pastor in Canada and the northern United States, instilling great faith and an enduring sense of family among Ruth and her siblings Ivan Kressin (deceased), Edee DelaBarre (Lincoln, CA) and Leroy Kressin (Xenia, OH). She attended Capital University in Bexley OH, 1950-51.

Married fifty-nine years to James Erwin Blair, whom she met in Canton, OH and who preceeded her in death February 2014, Ruth co-founded and served as Chief Financial Officer of J&R Quick Print in Knoxville 1979-1994. During an active life as legal secretary, wife, and mother, she made great friends in Los Angeles, El Paso, and Knoxville. Mr. and Mrs. Blair enjoyed their retirement and many loving friends in Oviedo, Florida, where they entertained frequent visits from their children Michael (and Nora, Huntingbeach, CA), Robert (and Pam; Parker, CO), Kelly (and David, Knoxville, TN), and Patrick (and Tracy, San Diego, CA). Ruth was an avid albeit frustrated gardener and artist. She dearly loved and doted on her grandchildren, Jessie Blair, Lexy and Kylie Blair, Peyton, Emma, and Caleb Clapp, Christian, Ashlyn, and Brayden Blair. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Bob St. John of West Park Baptist Church from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., March 11, at Click Funeral Home, 9020 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville. God, in His amazing grace and love, has walked us thru this disease of cancer with my mom, Ruth Blair, and our family. He has shown His presence consistently and helped sustain Mom and all as she walked thru the shadow of death. I was especially blessed as I was able to care for Mom her last 9 months as she also cared for me and my family thru difficult days.Thank you Jesus for Your sustaining hand thru trials and blessings. May God be exalted and praised, for this journey of Mom's illness and death, while devastating and wrenching, was also filled with blessings and light as God brought amazing people into our lives, and opportunities for Mom and I to draw nearer to each other and God. I will miss her terribly, but rejoice in God's promises for salvation and reunion.

I'm deeply saddened by Ruth's passing. She and her husband Jim were good friends of mine whom I have known through St Luke's Lutheran church in Oviedo.
My sincere sympathy to her family, who I met at Jim's funeral. There never was a sweeter friend than Ruth and I will miss her very much.
