William Fraker Obituary
William Harold Fraker
Knoxville - As Harold always stated, "Saying goodbye has always been difficult but just think of this as another time Daddy has to leave". He passed away peacefully at home November 30, 2020 surrounded by family and his faithful companion, Layla Baby as he began his final journey to his Heavenly Home. Most of his career was spent traveling as supervisor with Western Electric and being known as a "road warrior" so it was important to him that he return home as often as possible. This great sacrifice was out of love for his wife and three daughters so their needs would be met. By his actions of love and devotion to his bride of 69 years, it became a lifelong lesson to his daughters as how to live their lives. A lesson in true love, compassion, and patience. Being a perfectionist, he could be stern but also had a quiet nature with a very dry sense of humor that awarded him many laughs.
Born in Knoxville, TN, he was a long time member of Emerald Ave United Methodist Church where he and Mildred were married. He was a lifetime member of New Outlook Pioneers, member of Ft. City Lions Club, and was a Mason with Bright Hope Lodge #557. He was commissioned Colonel on the Staff of Governor of Kentucky 1974 & 1988. He began his career as a pioneer in the telephone industry overseeing installations of Underground Systems, Radio Relay Systems, and supervised Line Carriers with Western Electric Company until he retired in 1983.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Taylor Fraker; daughter, Beverly Fraker Rector; great granddaughter, Samantha Alise Sizemore and son-in-law, Thomas E. Wells. He leaves behind daughters, Susan Fraker Sizemore, Patricia Fraker Wells and son-in-law, David W. Rector; grandchildren, Melissa Rector Overton (John), Brian Wendell Rector (Erin), Christian Todd Sizemore (Melissa), and great grandchildren, Grant Alexander Sizemore and Lucas Wendell Rector.
