Yvonne Elizabeth Atkins McClellan, was called to rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. She was born January 5, 1948 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Kenneth and Carolyn Atkins. She graduated from Austin High School, Knoxville, Tennessee in 1967 and is a member of the United Class of 1967. Yvonne had a great love for people and demonstrated this through her employment with Knoxville Community Development Corporation and the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission. Midge, as she was called by family and close friends, had a loving spirit and laugh that would lighten up a room. She was a blessing to so many.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Gross; father, Kenneth R. Atkins; grandparents, Edward and Elizabeth Atkins; uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Bertha Oliver; brother, Kenneth "Pete" Atkins. Yvonne leaves to mourn, her sister, Sonja Johnson, San Francisco, CA; brother, Ronald (Joyce) Martin; sister-in-law, Frankie Atkins; nephew, Malik Johnson, San Rafael, CA; niece, Denise Atkins; loyal companion, Marvin Cantrell; devoted friends, Malinda Johnson, Bonnie Kirby, Patricia Spencer, Margaret Stewart-Coleman, Hertistine Wooten and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends 11:30 to 12:00 Friday, July 24, 2015 at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street. With service beginning at 12:00 PM, Rev. Melvin Henry eulogist. Interment to follow at New Gray Cemetery, service to conclude with dove release. Flowers may be delivered to the church Friday AM. Professional services entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
