CORUNNA - Chad J. Carper, age 50, of Corunna, Indiana, passed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1973, in Auburn. He was a 1991 graduate of DeKalb High School.
Chad married Brandy Schoof on July 25, 2009, in Auburn. She resides in Corunna.
He loved being outside doing anything. He especially liked fishing, hunting and riding his four-wheeler. Chad loved his family very much enjoyed spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Brandy Carper, of Corunna; two sons, Clay Carper (Ryah), and four grandchildren, Ryker, Everleigh, Keegan and Elijah; and Colton Carper, of Kendallville and granddaughter, Sofia Carper; daughters, Machaela Smith (Brett), of Auburn and Shelby Smith (Aric), of Corunna; his mother and stepfather, Alaina and Rick Ring, of Auburn; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rick and Imogene Schoof, of Kendallville; brothers, Ryan Carper (Janey), of Huntington and Matt Ring, of Ashley; an aunt who always had his back, Cindy Hudec, of Waterloo; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and other loving extended family members; and his constant daily companions, his granddog, Ford and the Littles.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Jeffery Carper; and his brother-in-law, Rick Schoof.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, from 2-7 p.m., at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center St., in Auburn.
Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, from 10-11 a.m.
A celebration of Chad's life will take place on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery, north of Corunna.
Memorial donations may be made to Brandy Carper, to help the family with medical expenses.

brandy, i was very sorry to hear about chads passing. my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. chad was a cool and fun high school friend who i remember lovingly.
