Darrell Johnson Obituary

HAMILTON — Darrell E. Johnson, 78, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 5, 2017, at his home in Hamilton, Indiana.
He was born November 23, 1938 in Steuben County to Chester E. and Murna (Snell) Johnson. He graduated from Pleasant Lake High School in 1957.
Darrell married Connie Crowl on June 26, 1960.
He worked at Moore Business Forms from 1958-1994 and retired from Schust Mechanical Systems.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Hamilton American Legion Post 467.
He was a member of the Alvarado United Methodist Church, Hamilton, Indiana, and a former member of the Steuben County Antique Power Association.
Darrell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He enjoyed flying, his tractors, camping, riding his 4-wheeler and traveling. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his twin great-granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Johnson of Hamilton; son Dennison (Lori Bailey) Johnson of Hamilton; daughter Danielle Chorpenning of Hamilton; brother Donald (Leora) Johnson of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Samantha (Cody) Portner, Daine Johnson, Evan Johnson and Noah Johnson; and his two twin great-granddaughters, Lexi and Remi Portner.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, with Pastor Lucretia Snyder and Pastor Bill Harnish officiating.
Military honors by the Hamilton American Legion Post 467 and burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Weicht Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at the funeral home prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Alvarado United Methodist Church, Hamilton American Legion Post 467 or DeKalb Hospice, 1316 E. 7th Street, Auburn, IN 46706.
Condolences may be expressed online through the website www.weichtfh.com.
