KENDALLVILLE - David Alan Dickey, age 81, of rural Kendallville, Indiana, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.
David was born in Kendallville, Indiana, on June 30, 1942, son of the late Theodore R. "Ted" Dickey and Avis (Brown) Dickey.
He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1960, and Indiana Business School.
He married Penny Sue Guthrie on Nov. 24, 1965.
He was employed over the years with Klink Electric, Cooper Tire, and he retired from J.O. Mory.
David was a lifelong member of South Milford Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday school for more than 50 years.
He loved cars, fishing, reading and spending time with his family. Dave never knew a stranger and he was always willing to help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Penny Dickey, of Kendallville; daughter, Anne M. Baird, of Hartford City, Indiana; brothers-in-law, Tom Sipe (Ruthann), of Michigan; Ed Guthrie (Ruth), of Avilla and Greg Guthrie (Judy), of Kendallville; sister-in-law, Phyllis McGahen (Larry), of Kendallville, grandchildren, Kristin Rogers (Matt), of Albion, Amanda Davidson (Josh), of Ohio, Abbie Townsend (Preston), of Hartford City, Josh Dickey, of Kendallville and Kelsie Reinig (Drake), of Fort Wayne; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Avis Dickey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Moses and Betty Guthrie; step father-in-law, James Ohlwine; son, Michael D. Dickey in 2019; son-in-law, Jack Baird; sister, Sue Sipe; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jess Kilburn; nephews, Gary Sipe and Mark Sipe; nieces, Theresa Messer, Misty Walters, Morgan Kilburn and Tracy Kilburn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at South Milford Church of Christ.
Funeral services will also be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at 1 p.m., at South Milford Church of Christ, with Pastor Brian Walter officiating.
Burial will follow at South Milford Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to South Milford Church of Christ.
