GARRETT - Deborah "Deb" S. DeVelbiss, age 62, of Garrett, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Deb was born on May 6, 1963, in Oak Hill, Ohio.
She was a graduate of DeKalb High School and spent much of her working life as a waitress at the Auburn Town Tavern and the Northway Inn Again, where she was known for her friendly smile and kind heart.
In her younger years, Deb loved dancing, listening to music, and attending performances by the band Choice. Her joy for life and love of music brought happiness to those around her.
She is survived by her fiancé, Don Pierson, of Garrett; daughter, Chassity Hons, of Seymour, Indiana; stepson, Eric DeVelbiss, of Florida; stepdaughter, Carrie Johnson, of Tip City, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and her brothers, James White, of Elkhart, Bill Spice, of Auburn, Bob Spice, of Fort Wayne, Huey White, of Kendallville and Bruce White, of Garrett.
Deb was preceded in death by her husband, Keith DeVelbiss; her parents, Robert and Patricia Spice; her grandmother, Ova Wells; and her sister, Anita Fell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main St., Auburn, Indiana.
A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Leo Cemetery, Leo, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
