PLEASANT LAKE - Donald "Don" LeBrun Jr., 73, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, beloved husband, uncle, friend, Eagle Scout passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1951, to Donald LeBrun Sr., and Dorothy Jeffries in Rome, New York.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah LeBrun Pruett, of Clermont, Florida.
Don graduated from Deerfield High School, Illinois, in 1969, College of Lake County in 1973, and Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1976.
Don was involved with International Conference of Building Officials, International Code Council, Council of Building Officials, Indiana Association of Building Officials and Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
Don married the love of his life, Diana Becker, on Nov. 15, 1980.
He lived a life full of purpose, hard work, and deep devotion. He spent many adventurous years as a crab, shrimp and halibut fisherman, based out of Homer, Alaska, building a life surrounded by a close-knit community that admired and supported him. Later, he brought that same grit and brilliance to his role as the Steuben County Building Commissioner and Assistant Director of Code Enforcement with the State of Indiana.
Don was a true outdoorsman and a gifted handyman. Whether he was fishing, working in the garage, fixing up the house, or just enjoying a day at the beach, he was happiest when his hands were busy and his heart was close to nature. He had a quiet strength, a deep intelligence, and a generous spirit - always the first to offer help and often the one making everyone laugh without saying much at all.
Above all else, Don cherished his wife, Diana. Their bond was undeniable, and his love for his family extended far and wide, including his niece, Nichole Johnson; grand-nephew, Ryker; and nephew-by-marriage, TJ; and dear friend, Deb Brogan. He was the kind of man who made you feel safe, loved, and at home - no matter where you were. Don was particularly grateful and loved his Living Kidney Donor, Janny O'Connell, who saved his life on Dec. 26, 2001.
Don's presence in this world was a gift. His legacy will live on in every project he built, every life he touched, and every moment he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Don's honor, at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Don's name to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization or to the Boy Scouts of America.

Don, I will always remember the moment when, after our operations, the nurse brought my gurney over by yours, and you lifted up your catheter bag and said, " look, Janny, we´re peeing!". Even though we didn´t see each other often, I shall dearly miss you, and I am honored to have been your friend.
