FREMONT - Donald K. Van Regenmorter, age 89, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025.
He was born on July 3, 1936, in Worthington, Minnesota.
Don served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Captain after 21 years of service. Don and his twin brother, Ronald, left for basic training together in June 1954, and Don retired from the Army in 1975, after serving in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, DAV and VFW Post 7205, Angola, Indiana.
Don married Norma Patterson on Sept. 13, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Norma "Pat" Van Regenmorter, of Fremont, Indiana; children, Don (Mindy) Van Regenmorter, of LaGrange, Indiana, Dawn (Scott) Penner and Dee (Roger) Probst, both of Fremont, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Don Van Regenmorter (Rachel), Brett Van Regenmorter (Alex), Alisha Rau (Terry), Scott Penner, Sarah Presley, Colt (McKinley) Penner, Chad (Abby) Probst, Kara (Kevin) Weckenbrock and Kasie (Ryan) Greenler, 26 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Frank (Marsha) Patterson, of Fremont, Indiana, Glen Patterson (Amy), of Michigan, and Don Little, of Fremont, Indiana; and a sister-in-law, Hildy Van Regenmorter, of Portland, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Van Regenmorter and Nellie (Ercklens) Van Regenmorter Brinkman; stepfather, Rich Brinkman; brothers, Cornelius, Peter, Leonard and twin brother, Ronald; sisters, Jane Poppen, Mary Osterkamp and Alyce Krause; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Lois (Jackson) Patterson; sisters-in-law, Kate Little and Mable (Ronnie) Zimmerman.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the services on Thursday, from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Pastor Sam Hoffman will officiate the service.
Burial will follow the services at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257.
