AUBURN - Jacqueline Sue "Jackie" Wheeler Williams Brines, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1935, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, to Ray "Jack" Leonidas and Lucille Mary (Crum) Wheeler. Jackie was raised by her aunt and uncle, Roberta and Ab Williams.
Jackie was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
She married Donald Lee Brines on June 1, 1957, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and he passed away on Jan. 11, 2017.
Jackie owned and operated a dance studio in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, for several years and also worked as a secretary for the Wabash County Health Department. After Jackie was married, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Auburn.
Jackie and Don enjoyed Notre Dame athletics, especially football and both men's and women's basketball. Jackie was a lifelong Elvis fan, loved traveling out West, and cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter, Leah.
Jackie and Don were honored to both be inducted into the Mt. Carmel High School Alumni Foundation.
She was extremely proud of recently completing courses in Bible Studies through Hillsdale College with her good friend Bruce Hamilton.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Gary Boyd, of Auburn, Indiana; granddaughter, Leah Ziebell, of Wood River, Illinois; sister, Doris Diane Liddle, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; nephew, Gary Stoltz, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Ed Wilson, of Washington, Missouri, and Mark and Toni Brines, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; sister-in-law, Shirley and Shannon Garrett, of Evansville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle; husband; sister, Janet Kay Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Gary Wayne Liddle.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry St., Mt. Carmel, IL 62863, with visitation from 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Memorials may be directed to Mt. Carmel High School Alumni Foundation or Heartland Worship Center Youth Group, in memory of Bryar Clark, her great-nephew.
