WOLCOTTVILLE - Janet L. Howe, 78, of Wolcottville, Indiana, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1946, in Garrett, Indiana, to Ralph L. and Fern A. (Wells) Hoover.
She graduated from Huntertown High School.
She married Donald L. Howe on Nov. 28, 1964, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Hudson.
Janet was a waitress at the original Gropp's Fish of Stroh.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Hudson.
She loved sewing, crafts, Christmas decorations, and country music. She enjoyed animals, especially hummingbirds. She also loved going out to eat with her husband, Don.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Donald L. Howe, of Wolcottville; two daughters, Rhonda (Randy) Rathburn, of Hudson and Robin (Brent) Byler, of LaGrange; three sons, Roy (Barbara) Howe, of Hudson, Ryan (Diane) Howe, of Angola and Roger (Susan) Howe, of Hudson; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Tosha) Howe, Bret (Andrea) Howe, Kristin (Andrew) Dobson, David (Brittney) Howe, Mony (Melanie) Howe, Cole (Courtney Stephenson) Howe, Sydney (Austin Shipe) Rathburn, Olivia Rathburn, Leyton Byler, Landry Byler and Lawson Byler; 16 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Jereme Hoover.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Dobson; and a sister, Karen Hoover.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 5965 S. C.R. 1025 E, Hudson, with Father Osman Ramoes officiating.
Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery near Stroh.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 2-6 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m., at Young Family Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Kendallville.
Preferred memorials may be made to LaGrange County 4-H Fair Association.
