SOUTH MILFORD - John Whitford Todd, age 84, a lifetime resident of South Milford, Indiana, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
John was born in South Milford, Indiana, on April 17, 1941, son of the late Joseph Keith Todd and Mildred Irene (Strawser) Todd.
He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1959.
He married Mary Elizabeth Owens, the love of his life, on June 25, 1960, in South Milford.
John began his career in masonry construction as a young man along with his father, under Keith Todd & Son Masonry. He eventually owned and operated Todd Masonry for many years, along with his son, Mike Todd.
He encompassed all of the attributes evident of a man walking closely with God.
He enjoyed many things including sudoku, IU and Fever basketball, country music, mowing and tending to the yard, playing cards and traveling with friends and living in South Milford. He was known for his deep love for his Savior and devout love for his family. He was a committed husband, loving father and patriarch of the family. He had an incredibly strong mind, conviction and work ethic. He was sentimental, humble, sacrificial and servant-hearted. He was a bit reserved but not in wisdom or in wit, meek but never weak - leaving a legacy for many generations to witness and follow. He prayed at every gathering and every meal for his family - that they would seek Jesus and live their lives for Him. He continually thanked God that his three children, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren all share in the same faith.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Todd, of South Milford; son, Michael and Robin Todd, of Pretty Lake; daughters, Holly and Jeff Spaw, of Avilla and Tammy and Denver Preston, of Big Long Lake; nine grandchildren, Erika Todd, of Fort Wayne, Kati Todd, of Fort Wayne, Jami and Matthew Beck, of Fort Wayne, Natalie and Tyler Ward, of Fort Wayne, Jordan and Sara Spaw, of Kendallville, Joel and Valerie Spaw, of Waterloo, Nicole and Kevin Kitt, of Fort Wayne, Olivia and Caleb McGahan, of Wawaka, and Lucas and Lindsey Preston, of Fort Wayne; and 18 great- grandchildren.
