COLUMBIA CITY - Rachel Jane Lane, age 91, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 4:14 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at her residence.
Born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Tipton, Indiana, she was a daughter of Robert and Jennie (Weakly) Kleyla.
Rachel attended Tipton High School and graduated with the Class of 1951. She later attended International Business College.
While in school she worked at the Diana Theatre and then at Perfect Circle Pistons Rings.
On Feb. 27, 1952, she married Robert Hal Lane at West Street Christian Church in Tipton.
While Hal attended Purdue University, Rachel worked in the administration office. After becoming a mother, she was a full-time homemaker.
Rachel was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.
She was a Cub Scout den mother for several years and also enjoyed bowling in her free time.
Survivors include her sons, Robert "Brian" Lane and Dave (Kim Weaver) Lane, both of Fort Wayne, Mike Lane, of Columbia City and Mark (Mandy) Lane, of Osceola; grandchildren, Braden Lane, Matthew Lane, Zachary Lane, Abby Lane and Gavin Lane; and siblings, Ralph Kleyla, of Louisiana and Nita Raquet, of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert "Hal" Lane; siblings, Jack Kleyla, Wilda Cockrill and Doris Wallpe; and infant granddaughter, Emily Lane.
Funeral services for Rachel will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday March 21, 2024, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial contributions in memory of Rachel may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Autism Foundation.
