Rose Vaughn Obituary

Mrs. Rose "Rosie" Vaughn (Fleshman), of Amity, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on April 5, 1935, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and she lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service. Rosie was the beloved wife of the late Norman Ray Vaughn, Sr., with whom she shared a devoted partnership and raised nine children in their 56 years of marriage, married August 14, 1952. Together they built a home filled with love, discipline, and enduring values. Rosie embraced her role as a mother with unwavering dedication and grace. Her children-Ray Vaughn, Theresa Gayle James (Butch), Rickey Lee Vaughn (Holly), Cary Linn Vaughn (Jammie), Kathy Irene Allwood (Mark), Kay Marie Vaughn, Sherrie Rena Vaughn (Moises), Harold Dean Vaughn (Misty), and Scott Michael Vaughn-were the center of her world. Her legacy continues through her fourteen grandchildren: Brandi Donahoo, Ty Vaughn, Travis James, Marly (James) McCracken, Rickey Vaughn Jr., Jared Vaughn, Danielle (Vaughn) O'Connell, Brandon Vaughn, Breaunna (Vaughn) Kirsch, Caitlin Brady, Austin Brady, Krissa Hubbard, Jessica (Vaughn) Cox, and Jazmyn Gregg as well as 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who carry forward her spirit and strength. Rosie was born to Harold Levi Fleshman Sr. and Esther Josephine Fleshman and was one of five siblings. She is survived by her brothers Ben Fleshman (Norma) and Dean Fleshman (Linda), and sister-in-law Barbara Fleshman. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Francis Fleshman, sister Kathleen Gayle, and her brother Harold Levi Fleshman, Jr. She also mourned the loss of two sons-in-law-Mark Pierce and Greg Allwood-as well as her parents-in-law Anna Barbara Vaughn and John Henry Vaughn. Rosie was a woman of deep Christian faith and conviction, embodying the virtues described in Proverbs 31: she was faithful to God, industrious in all she did, wise in counsel, strong in character, and generous in spirit. Her life was a testament to devotion-not only to her family but also to the values that guided her every step. Rosie cherished the truth found and spiritual guidance in John 3:16 "For God the Father so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life." Rosie served faithfully at the Woods Chapel Methodist Church as a Bible School teacher and a member of its Ladies Aid, hosting the annual Harvest Sale, making Rag Rugs, cakes, pastries, pies, and candies to support church activities and ministries. In her 90 years, 4 months, 13 days on this side of eternity, Rosie spent 6 years and 9 months in pregnancy, 45 years raising nine children, and 73 years as a farmer. On August 14, 1952, she joined her beloved husband, Norman, in partnership, farming on a second-generation farm that included dairy cattle, hogs, and row crops. In addition to the farm, Rosie served as accountant and bookkeeper for the Third Fork Trap Range located on the farm. Rosie also managed the Fairport Cafe for 6 years where she excelled in "home cook meals." Since November 11, 2009, Rosie served as the Sharp Cemetery Board President, committed to restoring it to its beauty and sacredness for those who have gone before us, ensuring their legacy lives on in their final resting place. Rosie found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. She had a deep love for gardening-whether tending vegetables for the table or nurturing flowers that brightened her home. Her green thumb extended indoors as well; houseplants thrived under her care. She was an avid reader who cherished quiet moments with a good book. Scrapbooking, quilting, and sewing were more than hobbies-they were expressions of creativity that warmed both body and soul. Rosie also loved to travel when she could-a reflection of her curiosity about the world around her. She enjoyed studying the ancestry of both the Vaughn and Fleshman families, learning new nuances of those who have gone before us. Her hands were rarely idle; whether stitching fabric into heirlooms or coaxing blooms from soil, everything she touched bore evidence of care and purpose. Those who knew Rosie will remember not only what she did but how she did it-with humility, strength, wisdom, and love. May the memory of Rose "Rosie" Vaughn bring comfort to all who knew her and serve as an enduring example of a life well lived in faithfulness and love.
