Sara Louise Savage

Sara Louise Savage, 84, passed away at her home in Platte City, Missouri on April 19, 2025. She was surrounded by several family members who were able to be present. Sara was born on September 29, 1940, in Brighton, Alabama to Frank and Mamie Lou Hurd. She married Hubbard Savage on December 22, 1957. They had four sons and built a beautiful family. Sara and Hubbard were devoted life partners who cherished one another. Their life and career led them from Alabama to Arkansas, then Central Florida where they put down roots. Atlanta, Pensacola, and later Platte City, MO were places they called home. Sara and Hubbard had a deep abiding faith in Jesus. Their journey through life was always marked by their churches and friendships along the way. They both enjoyed the challenge and fulfillment of business, often working together to reach their family goals. One of the greatest shared joys of their life was cheering on their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, her brother Howard Hurd, and recently her daughter-in -law Carla. She is survived by 4 sons Ray (Nina), Richard, Rusty (Stephanie), and Ryan (Evelyn); 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, June 7, at First Baptist Church in Platte City (17385 Hwy 371, Platte City, MO 64079). The visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FBC Platte City.
