Jerome Foxen Obituary

Jerome "Jerry" Foxen, 82, of Charles City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Mason City, Iowa. A funeral Mass for Jerome Foxen will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in honor of Jerome. Jerome "Jerry" Arnold Foxen, the son of Matthew and Agnes (Spoden) Foxen, was born December 29, 1942. He was raised in New Haven, Iowa where he attended school, graduating from New Haven High School in 1960. Jerome began working after high school at Allied Construction and Oliver for a short period of time. He enlisted into the United States Army in March 1966 where he proudly served his country in Korea and stateside at Fort Sheridan near Chicago until his honorable discharge with the rank of First Lieutenant in March 1969. Jerome continued his work with Allied Construction for over 40 years, retiring in 2008 as a Superintendent. Jerome was united in marriage to Beverly "Bev" Ellis on April 25, 1970, at the convent in Charles City because Immaculate Conception Catholic Church had not been rebuilt yet from the tornado. The couple made their home in Charles City and were blessed with two sons: Troy and Jason. Jerome was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved working hard, reading, working crossword puzzles (which had to be done in red ink), washing/waxing his cars along with keeping them running well, and feeding local wildlife (especially the birds and squirrels). Living family members include his wife, Bev of Charles City; two sons: Troy (Kelly) Foxen of New Prague, Minnesota and Jason Foxen of Mason City; two grandchildren: Jake Foxen and Gabi Foxen; siblings: Ed Foxen, Joe (Carole) Foxen and Norma Jean Crandall; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Matthew Foxen, Wilma Jean Onken, Mary Ann Richards and Aggie Aringdale; along with several nieces and nephews.
