Earlier today
Gene worked with my dad (Jeff Polzin) at the Krohn Clinic. For many years, my mom would host a holiday party where my sisters and I would help serve food to guests. This would be followed by an auction of various items-the purpose of which I am not entirely sure, but one year there was a stuffed raccoon (a toy, not taxidermy-with my mother you never know) and Gene and Janet bid won the item and gifted it to me. They were two of the kindest people I have ever encountered and our little town was so blessed to claim them as our own.
Their presence will be deeply missed, but felt and carried with so many.

i worked with Dr Krohn at Krohn Clinic for many years. He was so kind and caring and always there for a question or chat. He left an imprint on Black River and will be at peace, happy and content in heaven. He loved life and lived life and will be missed.

Dr Gene was a truly wonderful man. We are all the privileged to have known him. I have the privilege of working with him in the hospital as a NA. He also allowed me to observe an appendectomy. He was my family doctor for many years; delivered my 3 boys. Was skiing when my daughter was born. I will always have a super soft spot in my heart for him. I just loved him for the kind, gentle man he was. God wiling, I will see him again in heaven.

Dr Gene was my family doctor growing up and I had the privilege of doing a 4 th year medical school preceptorship with him for 2 months in 1982. It was an amazing experience covering the ER , delivering babies, assisting in surgeries, spending time in the clinic all while living in an old patient room in the hospital on the third floor. I was able to see my parents weekly in Melrose and have supper with them. Dr Gene walked me across the stage when I received my MD from UW Madison Medical School, which he also graduated from as did his daughter Amy . He was an amazing influence on me choosing to become a Family Physician- something I never regretted. Blessings to his family and his contributions to medicine.
