It was a great pleasure for me to sing with John in the Lead section of the Coulee Chordsmen barbershop chorus for many years. We shared a lot of music and a lot of laughter. John could put on a gruff look now and then, but underneath it he had the soul of a romantic. When I think about his favorite songs, they were almost all romantic or spiritual. His devotions ran very deep, and it's hard for me to find higher praise than that for any man.
I'll miss you, John, and God willing, I'll see you again down the road somewhere.

I will always enjoy working with John and the Knights of Columbus. May he rest in peace.
