Suzy Hamblen

HAMBLEN (Veeva Daniels Hamblen) 101 years! Passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008, at her home, in Santa Clarita. She was born on May 9, 1907, in Oklahoma. In the 1930's, Suzy Hamblen fell in love with a tall Texan, who had the number 1 radio program on the West Coast--Stuart Hamblen. When she married Stuart in 1933, she became known nationally on Stuart Ha mblen's Covered Wagon Jubilee program as "My Suzy" Hamblen. For 55 years, Suzy stood beside her husband as he continued to have the West Coast's top radio program. Stuart met and promoted Billy Graham's 1949 Revival Tent meeting in Los Angeles and ran for President of the United States in 1952. He wrote over 300 songs, both Country and Gospel, and has several Hall of Fame awards along with his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Suzy also wrote and recorded several Gospel songs and appeared on sever al of Bill Gaither's Homecoming Gospel Videos. Suzy beloved title is "Nana" and she is survived by her two daughters, one "daughter-by- choice", two sons-in-law, one "son-in-law-by-choice", seven grandchildren, three "grandchildren-by-choice", fifteen great-grandchildren and five "great-grandchildren by choice". Because of her deep love, understanding and support, even her nieces, nephews and friend's children considered her their "Nana". Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2008, 3 :00 p.m., at Forest Lawn Mortuary - Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, with Dr. Keith Philips from World Impact officiating.
