"Margie" Marie Simkanich

1929 - 2022

"Margie" Marie Simkanich, 93, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, May 23, 2022 at The Canopy at Harper Lake in Lake City after a brief illness. She was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on April 14, 1929 to the late Harris Fuller Rodgers and Mary Lambermont Rodgers. She has made the Lake City area her home since 1994, moving here from the St. Petersburg/Pinellas County area. She was homemaker for most of her life and worked for over 20 years with the Pinellas County School District. She was a devout Roman Catholic who prayed with her husband religiously and was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy and all kinds of crafts & sewing.
She is preceded in death by her four brothers.
She is survived by her husband of over 74 years, John Simkanich, Sr.; her children, John Simkanich, Jr. (Sue), Tom Simkanich (Gabi), Lorraine Simkanich, Daniel Simkanich (Laura), Rosemary Moon (Steve) and Ronald Simkanich (Carmen) along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Margie will be conducted on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Bob Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
