Annette Powell-Whitfield Obituary
Annette Michelle Powell-Whitfield was born on December 26, 1966, in Gainesville, Florida to the late Jessie Mae Brown Powell (Andrew Powell) and Reverend James Rowe. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Lewis; sisters, Betty Harps, Clarine Rowe, Dorothy Rowe; and brother, Tyrone Powell.
Annette "Shugg" was educated in the Columbia County School system and attended Lake City Community College for a while. Annette worked as a 911 dispatcher for Columbia County early on in her life. Annette accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life and was baptized by the late James Rowe. She attended House of Prayer in Christ Holiness Church pastored by Evangelist J. M. Powell. Annette was also a member of Living by Faith Outreach Ministries: Pastors Antonio and Angelina Hannah. Annette was also a National Recording Artist of the Anointed Powell Sisters and actively sang for numerous religious organizations in her community and surrounding areas. Annette was always available to sing in any situation and was well known in the Musical community for her outstanding vocals and devotion to God until her health began to fail.
Annette was called to her Eternal home of rest on September 10, 2025, in Gainesville, FL at HCA North Florida Regional Medical Center surrounded by love ones who will miss her dearly.
Annette leaves to celebrate her transition: daughter, She'Kena Grubbs (John); sons, Tyrell Foster (Lisa) and De' Aundre Jones and Sabrina; devoted granddaughter, Jai' Lyn Lewis, and 5 other grandchildren; sisters, Bobby Perry, Shirley Brewer, JoAnn Denson, Faye Jones, Pauline Griffin and Devoted Twin, Angelina Hannah (Antonio); brothers, Andrew Powell (Marie), Van Powell (Remia), Frezell Rowe (Barbara), James Rowe (Michelle), Sinclair Rowe (Faye), Arnest Rowe (Evette), Ernest Rowe (Samantha), Jerome Figgs; a host of nieces, sister-niece, Barbara Powell, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service for Annette Powell-Whitfield will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Allen Chapel Community Methodist Church, 1012 County Road 10A, Wellborn, FL.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at the funeral home.
