Canal Winchester - David Lee Cyphert of Canal Winchester, OH passed into the loving arms of God December 17, 2020. He was born May 9, 1952 in Latrobe PA to the late Thomas and Virginia Cyphert. He was the kindest, most loving man you will ever meet. He grew up in the Cleveland area.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Anne Darling Cyphert and their beloved children; Kevin (Ashton) of Westerville, Christopher (Nicole) of Brookville, and Lauren Do (Tony) of Marysville. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Brynleigh and Grace, step granddaughter Marley; and grandson on the way, Tyler David Do.

In addition, he is survived by brothers: Jeff (Peggy) of Grand Blanc, MI; Dr. Thomas Cyphert of Brecksville; and Michael (Denny) of Shelby, Ohio; his father in law, Frank (Carol) Darling of Sarasota, Florida; sister-in-law, Linda (William) Alspach of Canal Winchester; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Dave was a prominent engineer for over 40 years with numerous worldwide patents while working for various companies including steel marking systems that helped solve the first World Trade Center Bombing and Oklahoma City bombing, large culvert extruders, electro surgical generators, and most recently, ultrasonic machines for the automotive industry. Although trained as an electronic engineer at Cleveland Institute of Electronics, his career in mechanical engineering is what he loved the most. He was the fiscal officer for Bloom Township for 11 years. He was employed as Engineering Manager for Techsonic. He proudly served as the volunteer handyman of Rockmill Brewery. He taught 5th grade Parish School of Religion at St. Mary's Groveport and St. John XXIII Catholic Church. He was an accomplished classical guitarist. He enjoyed many vacations each year to Hilton Head, SC.

Viewing will be outside of the glass doorway of Saint John XXIII Catholic Church, 5170 Winchester Southern Road, Canal Winchester on Tuesday, December 22, at 10:00am. Masks and social distancing are required. A funeral Mass for the family will be held at 11am followed by a public procession to the cemetery at 11:45am. Members of the Bloom Twp. Fire Department will lead the procession. The public procession will start at the church, head through the village of Lithopolis, proceeding east on Lithopolis Road, then south on Rockmill Road where he will be laid to rest at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Once you have reached the cemetery entrance, the procession will break off so that the family can mourn in private.
