Edward George

LANCASTER: Edward George, 80, of Lancaster passed away November 5, 2012 at the Pickering House. Edward was born on June 18, 1932 in Lancaster to the late James C. George and Myrtle (Canter) Eslinger. Ed was a retired mold maker from Anchor Hocking with 43 ½ years of service. After retirement, he worked for Kitchen Collection and Slaters Hardware and was a Realtor in Lancaster. Ed was a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ. He loved life to the fullest. His greatest joy was loving the Lord, his family and his work. He will be greatly missed.

Ed leaves behind his loving and devoted Wife of 62 years, Norma (Hockman) George of Lancaster; Son, James (Susan) George of Lancaster; Daughter, Debbie (Richard) Hoelscher of Lancaster; Five Grandchildren, James (Lucie) George, Faith (Joseph) McGuire, Matthew (Becca) George, Sarah (Bryan) Hartman, and Jordan Lott; Seven Great-Grandchildren, Chandler Donahey, Carter Donahey, Jada Lott, Madison Holley, Bentley McMaster, Peyton McMaster, and David McGuire; Two Sisters, Dorothy Shriner and Beatrice Stafford; Half-Sister, JoAnn Kern; Best Friends, Jeff and Jean Kemerer; along with several Nieces and Nephews. Edward is preceded in death by his Parents; Two Grandchildren, Zachary Hoelscher and David Hoelscher; Brothers, Donald George and James Clarence George.

The family would like to thank Fairhope Hospice and the Pickering House for their excellent care Ed during his illness.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ, 115 W. Fifth Avenue with Rev. Dave Tingler and Rev. Brad Seevers officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date with a private service for the family in Amanda Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ or Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care.
