Alan Barry Obituary

Barry, Alan G.
Born Aug. 11, 1941 in Yonkers N.Y. Passed away March 25, 2003 at his home in Palos Verdes, CA. with his family by his side. Beloved husband for 24 years to his wife Helana. Loving father of Brett(Lise), Jason, and Jeff. Adored grandfather "Far-Far" to Lindis and Tira. Proud son of the late Dave and Ginny Barry. Devoted brother to Kerry, Steve(Gwen), Dana and Wendy. Alan grew up in Beverly Hills where his love and passion for life evolved. As a child, he appeared as "Trickle" in the movie "Ladies of the Chorus" with Marilyn Monroe. He went to UCLA law school and became an attorney, where he practiced for many years in the South Bay area. Between cases, Alan always found time to be with his family and friends, travel, and get in a quick game of tennis. Alan had a childlike sense of wonder and a taste for sports and adventure. He loved photography, sunsets and the ocean. Alan embraced every day of his life and it showed. He continued to smile and laugh, even in the face of a life threatening illness. The spiritual guidance he received from friends and congregants at Ohr HaTorah helped rekindle his faith in Judaism and gave him strength. Alan's kind-heartedness, easy going nature, and zest for life was an inspiration to us all. He will be missed. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 27, at 1pm at Green Hills Mortuary and Memorial Chapel in Palos Verdes, CA. (310) 831-0311. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohr Ha Torah Congregation. www.ohrhatorah.org.

To The Family,

As Alan Barry's first cousin, I grew close to him and my other cousins while staying in the Barry house in Beverly Hills in 1968-69, after graduating in theatre from the University of Michigan and coming to Hollywood to be a scriptwriter.

Five years older, he was like the older brother I never had. Alan was always there for me, as was Uncle Dave and Aunt Ginny. Alan helped me when I had a traumatic auto accident in L.A. He was there for my niece's bat mitzvah.

Family was very important to him. He was always kind and thoughtful to me and my children. Although miles have kept us apart over the years, he has always been in my heart.

I loved him very much and will miss him greatly. My mother, Stella Seiden, my children, Dan (Lucy) Rasmussen and Lisa Rasmussen and I send our deepest condolences to Helana and his family.
