Known to his friends as Al or "Joss," Dr. Josselson practiced Internal Medicine with a specialty in Rheumatology into his 70's with an office in Arcadia, California and a professional association with the Methodist Hospital of Southern California. He served on the hospital's Board of Directors from 1977-1993. Al graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina and graduated first in his class at Northwestern Medical School in Chicago. After med school, he served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps from 1946-1948 in Wurzburg, Germany newlywed with Bonnie. They returned to the U.S. for Al to pursue a Fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Josselson was part of the team working with Nobel Medical Prize Laureate Dr. Philip S. Hench in the development of cortisone for the treatment of arthritis. Moving to Southern California in 1952, Al initially began his private medical career in Alhambra before establishing a practice in Arcadia. Al enjoyed sharing his medical knowledge and was a popular instructor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Throughout his life, Al was a devoted husband and father who made the well being of his family his highest priority. Thousands of patients benefited from his medical expertise and caring manner. Those of us who knew and loved him will forever miss him.
