Ara Boranian Obituary

July 15, 1931 - August 3, 2023 Ara Boranian, 92, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his home on August 3, 2023. Ara was born on July 15, 1931, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Paul and Rose Boranian and was the youngest of four brothers. After graduating from Mankato State Teachers College in 1954, Ara served in the Army, where he was stationed in Japan. After completing his service in 1956, Ara moved to Santa Ana (Orange County), California, to become a middle school teacher. In 1959, Ara met a new teacher from Nebraska named Madge Eggers, and they married a few months later. They raised their family in Orange County over the next 30+ years. Ara was a lifelong educator and influenced the lives of thousands of young people as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. As a young teacher, he gravitated toward students who needed a little extra help, and over his long career he counseled countless students into adult life and especially into college. No one enjoyed a gathering of friends and family more than Ara, and he will always be remembered for his warm nature, generous spirit, and hearty laugh. Ara is survived by his wife of 63 years Madge; children Lisa and Rob Etteldorf, and Susan and Steven Boranian; grandchildren Andy and Lauren Secondine, Andrew Etteldorf, Christopher Boranian, and Matthew Boranian; and multiple nieces and nephews.
