Colonel (Ret.) Terrance Staley

From: Colonel (Ret.) Terrance E. Staley (cousin of Dr. Artis A. White)
I enjoyed my time with Cousin Artis attending his award ceremony at Morehouse and the recognition banquets that were held in Los Angeles. I also appreciated his attendance at my promotion ceremony to Lt. Colonel at Christ Memorial Church of God in Christ presided by the late Pastor Andre Crouch. I enjoyed the time with him as he enjoyed the time with my family in California in the 90s. He will be missed.

Rest in peace Uncle Artis. You fought a good fight and have left an inspirational legacy of excellence in your field, integrity and generosity to your beloved Morehouse College. I will always treasure you sharing all the stories of you and my dad's life growing up in "little ole Middletown, Ohio", walking to camp together as kids at the end of the summer after the "white folks" pool season was over in the late 1930s and 1940's, when "colored boys" were allowed to swim and enjoy the camp... and so many other memories. We'll never forget you babysitting my brothers and I each year by the pool at the dental conventions throughout the 1960 and '70s! Your humble beginnings and memories of people from those Middletown days never left you and surely contributed to your appreciation of life and success. My son will always remember his "summer with Uncle Artis and Miss Lucy" in Brentwood, CA in 2012 --packing and sorting and packing and unpacking and sorting etc. I hope Glen inherits your fashion sense of style! My dad used to say "Artis is a cool cat...always SHARP!" I'm sure you'll be the coolest "cat" wherever your soul rests.
Our deepest sympathy to your relatives and friends who too mourn your passing. We have lost a giant. Rest in peace.
