Barbara Basch Obituary
May 2, 1928 – July 13, 2022
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister to her late brother Richard and wife to late husband Elliott, passed away on July 13, 2022.
"Dubby" as she was known to her friends was just remarkable. She rarely ever complained and while always composed, she was actually tough as nails, resilient and enduring. To the very end, she worked on jigsaw puzzles, lifted dumbbells, and rode a bike. She continued to read even though she said she couldn't always see and listened even though she often said she couldn't hear.
She was loved by all!
In her early days, she was a gorgeous red head, who was asked out by Mr. Sinatra himself, while pregnant and working at the William Morris Agency. (Perhaps he wasn't looking at her waist!). She loved tennis back in the day and a good pack of cigarettes when it was vogue. She survived brain cancer that she got over 30 years ago, never slowing her down, except to make the change to Nicorette. Among her favorite pastimes was having a French toast breakfast (IHOP worked for her) or playing Mahjong at Brentwood Country Club.
Dubby is survived by her sons, Richard (wife,Karyn) and Andrew (wife, Karleen).
In addition to her sons, she is survived by her nine grandchildren, Garrett, Aaron (wife, Tiffany), Alexandra (husband, Dylan) Sara, Jen, Courtney, Austin, Elle, and Emilee, and her great-grandson, Reggie.
Lastly, her grand-dogs, Charlie, Dani and Bruno whom she fed In N Out burgers and fries with a straight face while she thought no one was watching!
Funeral Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Monday July 18th at 2 pm.
