Barry Comden Obituary
(74) Barry passed away peacefully in Los Angeles due to heart failure. He was sitting in bed, clicker in hand, we believe watching the Laker game.
One time husband to Sandy Comden and Doris Day, Barry continued living the rest of his life as the quintessential bachelor. Just the way he liked it.
Barry's larger than life charisma, acerbic sense of humor and quick wit will be sorely missed by most, but definitely not by all. Barry will be fondly remembered for his great storytelling. He'd leap at the opportunity to share his infamous personal escapades to anybody who would listen, even to those who wouldn't. And when he was finished, he'd certainly let you know, by abruptly walking out or simply hanging up on you...his signature move. Barry was a true one of a kind.
Survived by his son Danny Comden, daughter-in-law Peggy and future grandson on the way, his daughters Susannah and Maude, Cousin Len Comden and many dear friends.

He was my Jewish big brother when I was very young He wanted to help a poor inner city Jewish kid and it was awesome for me in early60s!! I got to stay with him and sandy hill on park avenue and did things that were fantastic I loved him dearly !!

Jacqueline Melcher sends condolences to Barry's family. I am shocked to hear that he is gone. I recently spoke with Barry just a few weeks ago when he called with a short story that crossed my path some years ago. I enjoyed him and his comments although we had never met in person. I send good thoughts.

My sympathy goes to Barry's family. He was a friend of my ex-boyfriend, Len Mero, also now deceased. We lunched together several times at the former Andre's restaurant here in Beverly Hills during those years and he was always very pleasant.
