Summer 2007—I am one of those to whom Ben said hello, and he enriched my life! He shared his vast knowledge of the history of the Isthmus Yacht Club on Santa Catalina Island. How lucky I am he stopped to say hello!

Ben was my Urologist for many, many years. A doctor that one could count on to be very proffesional, warm and honest with all of his patients. My sincere condolences to the family of a great guy!

Ben D. Massey Jr. in the family kayak at Two Harbors, Catalina Island
Stacy Massey
August 23, 2008
Dr. Massey is also survived by his nephew John Massey Jr. and his wife Mary (children: Sharon, Katy, Scott and Charles) and his niece Stacy and her son Davis.
Uncle Ben was an amazing man with a heart the size of Catalina. My brother and I mourn his passing and our family will feel his loss forever. We send our sympathy to our Aunt Linda, cousins Sarah and Ben and their perspective families. And especially to our father John Sr. who, unlike the rest of his, grew up with "big brother" Ben for the past 74 years.
In honor of our Uncle Ben, please say "hello" to a stranger - that's something he would have done.

The only time I spent with Ben Massey was our chance encounters in a parking lot. Since walking by people in parking lots is much easier without making eye contact I was caught unawares on the day Dr. Massey stopped me to introduce himself. He had an ease about him I didn’t expect in the parking lot environment, he was unhurried. We talked... for a while. When I learned who he was, I'd take the parking lot opportunities to ask neophyte questions about the future of private medicine and how to keep a new family practice on track. His interest and empathy was refreshingly personal and his words of encouragement have had a lasting and positive effect.
We'll miss the opportunity to know him better.
