Betty Royce Obituary

Betty Jane Royce, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015. She was born on January 30, 1924 and raised in the greater Los Angeles area. She was a resident of Costa Mesa at the time of her death. Preceding her in death were her children, Nancy Royce and Donald Royce, and her parents Helen Estelle Cummins and Loyd Casper Cummins. Betty's grandfather, Robert A. Cummins, Ph.D. was instrumental in starting the University of Southern California Extension Program. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Winberg, granddaughter Katherine Winberg, her son Edward Royce, Congressman for the 39th District, and his wife Marie Thér¿se Porter Royce and her brother, Richard Cummins. Betty will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother who cared for her family and was passionate about supporting children in her community. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, watching American musicals, British films, and reading historical novels. Her life has forever changed those who knew her and loved her. There will be a private family service on Feb. 28 beginning at 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn, 44711 Lincoln Ave., Cypress. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be made in honor of Betty to the Orangewood Children's Foundation, 1575 E. 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92705, ATTN: Development.
