Stevens, Carmela
November 21, 1920 - January 2, 2011
Carmela "Millie" Stevens passed away at the age of 90 on January 2, 2011 in Marina Del Rey, CA. She had been a resident of Westchester, CA for the past 31 years. Carmela was born in New York City on November 21, 1920 to Stefan and Anna Larocca. Her family moved to the the Mar Vista portion of West Los Angeles after WWII. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Stevens; son, Mark Stevens of Atherton, CA (and daughter-in-law, Mary); daughter, Lisa English of Cameron Park, CA and five grandchildren (Gianna, Gabby, Scott, Sean and Samantha). Carmela was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Nick Larocca; niece, Ann Blanton; and nephew Stephen Larocca.
Millie was employed as as administrative assistant at Hughes Aircraft in two stints: in the 1950's before the arrival of Mark and Lisa and, later, in the late 1970's and 1980's before her retirement in 1989. Her favorite pastime in retirement was pullling the arms of the " one armed bandits" in the casinos of Laughlin, NV. She took great pride in cooking delicious Italian cuisine for family and friends to enjoy. Millie will be greatly missed as a devoted wife and adoring mother and grandmother.
