Cecelia F. "Cis" Klein

1951 - 2023

September 13, 1951 - December 14, 2023 Cecelia (Cis) Frieda Klein, a very special lady, passed away on December 14, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She made the world a better place. Her kindness and generosity will be missed forever.
Cis was born in Los Angeles on September 13, 1951 to Harriet Gewerter, a school teacher, and Fred Gewerter, owner of Fred's Bakery.
Following graduation from Beverly Hills High School, Cis attended Santa Monica College and CSUN before starting her career at Fred's Bakery.
Cis and Larry Klein married in 1977 and had one daughter, Melissa, born in 1986. Cis met Larry in grade school, thus starting a 60+ year friendship.
Cis was caring and kind to everyone, an extremely positive person who never said no to anyone. She was generous with her time and baked goods, and an inspiration to all. Many lives have been enriched by Cis. She brought joy, gladness, warmth, humor and most of all love to everyone she encountered at the school, Temple Emanuel and in the community.
Cis enjoyed being a part of Temple Emanuel Community Day School and taking part in school events with Melissa and her friends. She served on the PTH Board, on numerous committees and was instrumental in starting and heading the hot lunch program at the school. She was honored by the school as their "Woman of Valor" and was an honoree at a Temple gala. She was proud of her Jewish roots and became a Bat Mitzvah in June of this year at the age of 72.
Cis is survived by her daughter Melissa Klein, Larry Klein, brothers Steve Gewerter and Harold Gewerter, nephew Brent Gewerter and great nephew Landon Gewerter, niece Leigha Schafer, great niece Arianna Schafer and great nephew Damien Schafer, and niece Emily Gewerter.
Services will take place at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City at 6001 W. Centinela Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90045 on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10 a.m.
