Cecil Hoffman Obituary

The Rev. Dr. Cecil Hoffman died 12-27-2022 at his residence in Pasadena. He was 90. Hoffman was the Founder and Director of Community Counseling Service in the USC area (now known as Amanecer/CCS). Later he was in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist for thirty years, right up through the first two months of the COVID pandemic.
Dr. Hoffman received his B.A. from Occidental College and his M.Div. from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He served in pastoral ministry for seventeen years before receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at USC.
He married his wife, Pat, in 1954 while in his first year of seminary. They had three children, Bruce Hoffman, Mary Hoffman, and Ruth Hoffman Cooper (Jim). They were blessed with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dr. Hoffman loved poetry, and for his 90th birthday he recorded several brief videos in which he shares stories of critical points in his life and poems that restored his soul. You may visit the website and hear these videos at https://www.poemsthatrestoredmysoul.com/about-cecil.
A Memorial Service was held in Pasadena on Jan. 7th. People wishing to make a donation in his honor are encouraged to go to Amanecer/CCS at https://amanecerla.org/
