Cleo Melchior

Cleo Melchior aka Cleo Baldon quietly passed away 12 October 2014.

A beloved addition to the Danish community in California by marriage to Ib Melchior, a happy marriage which lasted over fifty years. Ib and Cleo used to say "We don't just love each other, we are in love."

A Woodbury University graduated landscape architect and designer of functional as well as comfortable and pleasing interiors, in addition to the popular Terra furniture line.

She spent her life beautifying Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, where the thousands of innovative gardens and pools bear witness to her art, as do the numerous awards, honors and patents bestowed upon her.

She is credited with inventing the lap pool and the Hydro-Spa and she designed and had built a solar house,
which the press called "the house of the decade" because of its technology and innovative design.

With her husband she co-authored two large format books, "Steps and Stairways" and "Reflection on the Pool" published by Rizzoli, which gave her the appetite to embark on a new venture: she became an author!

Her first novel, "Half Past the Dead of Night" was recently published and received a most positive write-up by the prestigious Kircus Review, which stated "an often colorful, quirky vision of Hollywood and its denizens, with likeable characters and a few surprise plot twists."

Cleo is survived by her husband and two sons, Dirk Arin Baldon and Dr. Leif Melchior.

Services are in the process of being arranged.

According to Cleo's wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the ocean in the presence of her closest friends and with a brief service performed by the Danish Pastor, Anne Grethe Krogh Nielsen.
