Darren was our family therapist at SCCC for my three daughters, Madison, Marla, Melaynee, and me, every week until the end. While we were one of his final sessions, he never betrayed his challenges while showing us genuine care in dealing with our own until time ran out. He taught me a critical lesson about remembering what it was like to be my daughter´s age. His presence carried profound weight with such innate insight that enlightened our thoughts so profoundly that the gifts he taught my daughters and I will carry on for generations of our family that have yet to be born. We all seriously love that man. Hashem has touched you by having known Darren.

My deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of Darren. Truly, a bright light has gone from this planet.
I wasn't a good friend of Darren's in the sense of keeping in touch or seeing each other often, but we were heart friends, able to pick up after years of not seeing one another. We shared a four-year journey at USM.
He was a rare man: kind, compassionate, funny and handsome - all in one person. He had a huge heart!
When I think of Darren, I think of his smile that lit up a room, his laugh, his ability to really listen and his natural way of making the people around him feel confident and loved.
To his wife and daughter, may you feel his huge loving presence around you - always. I am very sorry for your loss.

An angel among us. My deepest condolences to his beautiful wife and adoring mother. Darren was the first person I met at The University of Santa Monica in 2009 and I consider myself so lucky to be able to call him my friend. He was a beautiful and unique soul with a smile that would light up a room. He was also smart, and so generous with his guidance. I have many memories of our personal conversations during a 4 year period that I still hold with me today... and draw upon for strength and guidance. Although I have not spoken to Darren since 2013, I am devastated to hear of his passing. Everyone loved Darren, but especially the girls. He touched our hearts as he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. RIP my sweet friend. The world will be a lonelier place without you...but that beautiful soul will go on and shine someplace else. Apparently, somebody else needed you for you to be taken from this earth so soon. And you left behind a beautiful baby girl as part of your legacy. That beautiful smile with live on...
Your friend, Jennifer Verger
