Deirdre (Ms. Collins) was the best math professor ever. I am very saddened to discover this news, after I told my little sister to take her course this semester. I started taking pre Calculus with her up through Calculus II and became her teacher's assistant for the courses until I transferred out of Glendale College. She was an inspiration and always had me pushing myself. I use the skills I acquired in her courses, daily. I owe a lot to her. She will be missed.

Deirdre was a lovely, wonderful, kind, and highly intelligent woman. She will be dearly missed. I will always remember her dry sense of humor and pragmatic approach to her life. Mostly I will miss her stories about her life, friends, family, and coworkers. She possessed such a keen insight into people and a wonderful way of narrating life's events.
Deirdre was also a huge cat lover and she leaves behind two adorable kitties, Mobius, and Hillary.
When she lived in Chicago she always drove a cute, little Mazda Protoge, which was built in 1988 (I think). She loved that car and even more so because it was red!
I'm so grateful that in 1995 Deirdre met a wonderful man, Sterrett Collins, who she adored and later married. One of her strongest goals for her life was to meet a fabulous guy and she did just that! I know because she told me so on her 30th birthday, which we both celebrated in China Town.
I'll miss her very much and I'm so proud of the person she became and the fine teacher she was!
