Dominic Ziccardi Obituary

May 26, 1919 - May 4, 2013
Dominic passed away at home with his family by his side in Santa Monica. He is now reunited with his beloved Geneva who he has missed dearly since her passing in 2009.
Dominic was born to Joseph and Lena Ziccardi and grew up in New York City. He earned his BS in Botany from CCNY. His brothers Tony and Johnny and sister Marion predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters Susie and Gloria and his brother Frankie, all in Middletown, CT.
Dominic was a WWII veteran, a navigator bombardier in the South Pacific where he served bravely and proudly. On March 2, 1944 he married Geneva, the love of his life and had 4 children Dom, Bobby, Jody and Holly who made him beam with pride. Dominic retired from the FDA after 26 years of service without taking a day of sick leave. He was an avid golfer and had an honorary lifetime membership at the Knollwood Men's Golf Club. Two of his favorite pastimes were playing the horses and trading penny stocks. He loved telling corny jokes, watching jeopardy, doing sudoku, walking the 3rd St Promenade, shopping at the 99cent store, and going to coffee with his fellow exercisers. But mostly he was passionate about learning - he was always reading, always asking questions, always interested in everyone's story.
Dominic was a hardworking man of integrity whose legacy lives on in each of us. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his family: children Dom Ziccardi & Kate, Bobby & Julie Ziccardi, Jody & Tom Priselac, Holly & Larry Reinhard; his grandchildren Rebecca, Daman, Matt, Caroline, Brian, Larry, Sami, Phoedra, Alethea; great grandchildren Tessa, Peyton, Gigi, Finn, Lilly, Tyler, Kyra, Tessa; siblings Susie, Frankie, Gloria, Phil and his many nieces and nephews including Marion, Susan, Juliana, Sue, Debra, Louis, Betty, Philip, Denise and Michael.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 26th, his 94th birthday. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the US Olympic Team.
