DON WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLDER THAN I. I met him when I was a teenager, thew the dance world.
He was in Donald McKayle's original dance company (1960's, I joined Donnie's 2nd company, in 1966). So we had close dance connections. I didn't actually dance with him, but was involved with him at LACHA and with several dance events, when I taught there, in the 1980's.
I became close with Don, speaking, with him periodically, until a few weeks before his death. Don was a wealth of (dance) knowledge and I miss our talks together.

Be Encouraged, family and friends Don Martin was an amazing friend and gift to us all. He shared the authentic Lester Horton with so many people: I was fortunate enough to have studied under him @ The Inner City Cultural Center. I have treasured memories, and I plan to plant a tree in his honor.
