Gabriela Mitchell Obituary

MITCHELL, Gabriela Duque Gabriela Duque Mitchell was born on August 31, 1934 in Panama. She came to the United States with her family in 1950 after her father, Santiago Ernesto Duque, passed away. She attended Madeira School for Girls in Virginia for one year. In 1951 she traveled to and settled in California where she attended Marymount College in West Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955. She was an accomplished artist and pianist and was fluent in English, Spanish and French. She worked for Walt Disney Studios for many years, and later used her language fluency as an interpreter. She married fellow artist Robert Mitchell in the late '50s and since 1985 lived as a widow in the San Fernando Valley. She peacefully died in her sleep after a prolonged illness on December 8. She was 74 years old. She is survived by her sisters Sonya Green and Dora Saputo, aunt Carmen Harbert, two cousins and four nephews and niece.
