Gary Daniel Ganibi

June 26, 1952 - March 6, 2014 Surrounded by family and friends, Gary, age 61, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014 after his long and courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born on June 26, 1952 in Pasadena, California to Pedro Viloria Ganibi (deceased) and Eileen Shirley LaBelle. He graduated from John Muir High School (class of 1970) and attended Pasadena City College where he received his A.A. in criminology. He then pursued a long career in law enforcement and served as an officer with the Pasadena Police Department, and range master and reserve officer with the South Pasadena and El Segundo Police Departments. After 28 years with the El Segundo PD, he retired in 2012 as the Senior Analyst. During his career in law enforcement, he was also a councilman for the city of Altadena for several years. Gary was also very active in the Catholic Church and joined the Knights of Columbus in 1999 and became Chapter President in 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Eva; three daughters: Francesca, Victoria and Jessica; grandson: Matthew; brother: Pierre; and sisters: Nita, Maribelle and Florabelle. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church (1879 N. Lake Avenue, Altadena 91001) at 11 am, with a viewing on March 14, 2014 at St. Andrew Catholic Church (311 N. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena 91103) from 7 pm to 10 pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Gary's ashes will then later be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Hollywood Hills (private).
