Grant Burton Obituary

February 11, 1958 - April 17, 2025 It is with great sadness that the family of Grant Burton announce his sudden passing. Grant was born on February 11, 1958 and died on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 67.

Grant attended St. Mark's School in Venice, Loyola High School in Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University and West LA School of Law. Grant served with pride in the US Coast Guard. Grant had a distinguished twenty year career as an Attorney and Assistant Human Resources Director for the Metropolitan Water District. Grant recently retired as the Human Resources Director for the Calleguas Muncipal Water District.

To know Grant was to fall in love with his spirit, love for life and unique sense of humor. Grant brought life to every gathering. Grant was a kind and gentle soul who gave of himself to family and friends in need. Yes, Grant was big hearted.

Grant loved basketball, politics, surfing and manning an outrigger canoe. Grant was well read and well informed. Most of all, Grant adored his daughter Maggie and son Jake.

To those of us who have known Grant well, Grant's life was complete when he reunited with his high school sweetheart Kelly several years ago. These soulmates married and shared such happiness.

Grant Burton was a much-loved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Grant is survived by his wife Kelly Boyle, daughter Maggie Burton, son Jake Burton, brothers Mark and John Burton, sister in laws Dickie Van Breene and Cheryl Burton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Burton and parents, Frank and Virginia Burton.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Mark's Church located at 940 Coeur D Alene Avenue, Venice, CA 90291. Reception to follow.

Grant is one of the few people we know who took his childhood exuberance and joy into his adult life. We will remember you and when we do, we will smile and laugh. Rest In Peace Grant.
