Harold Skolnik Obituary
August 30, 1923 - June 8, 2012
Harold (Hal) T. Skolnik, 88, died of natural causes in Los Angeles, CA on June 8, 2012. Skolnik, a successful international businessman, lead a bold and storied life across several continents. A resident of London, Ibiza, Spain, and Los Angeles, the tireless Skolnik was a friend and mentor to many in multiple industries, including BAFTA. Hal and his associates are considered internationally recognized figures. Born in Danzig to David and Paula Skolnik, he married Chris Gillett on June 18, 1977. She preceded him in death. A speaker of five languages, Skolnik was a special agent for the United States Army's Counter Intelligence Corps, serving as an interpreter and investigator during World War II. He was preceded in death by brothers James Skolnik, of Palm Springs, CA, and Basil Skolnik, of Madrid, Spain. He is survived by nieces, Leila (Ken) Winick of Los Angeles, CA and Stefanie (William) Herb of Townville, SC; nephews Adam (Linda) Skolnik of Clermont, FL, Robert (Linda) Skolnik of Yalaha, FL, and David Skolnik of Israel. I worked for Hal whilst he was in London.
We bcame friends when he introduced me to Chrissy who became his wife. I loved them both dearly. Rest in Peace dear Hal.

I would like to put on record Hal's kindness to and love of Vera Gillett (Christine's Mum). He promised Christine that he would look after her mother and he certainly did. I'll always remember the monotony of weekends being broken with a "cousin Hal's in town", followed by the requisite trip to Ratner's. What a character he was.
