Harvey Medlinsky Obituary

MEDLINSKY, Harvey Marcus Passed away on June 19th. He was born in Worcester, MA to Betty and Louis Medlinsky. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he joined the army and was stationed in Brooklyn. He spent every night at the Broadway theatre thanks to tickets provided by the USO. Thus a passion and career was born. After the army, he attended Yale Drama School. He began his career as a Stage Manager with "An Evening with Nichols and May." Blessed with a great sense of comedy and timing, he became Production Stage Manager and so began a successful association with Mike Nichols and Neil Simon. He made an easy transition into directing doing National and London companies of "Odd Couple" and the award winning "Plaza Suite". He directed hundreds of plays with wonderful actors like Betty Garret, Jack Klugman, Tony Randall, Don Knotts, Rue McClanahan, Rosemary Harris, and so many more. In addition to directing for the stage, he also directed for television, "The Bob Newhart Show", "Mork & Mindy", "The Tony Randall Show", "The Betty White Show", and for HBO, "Barefoot In The Park" and "Plaza Suite". He had a wonderful 31 year marriage to Jill Goldberg, and their son, Jared, was the joy of his life. He leaves his adored sister, Hinda Wolf and her punster husband, Marty; his brother-in-law, Lyn Goldberg and his wife, Adrienne; cherished friends Bronwyn Levitan and her husband, Dan; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and Jimi, his edgy but adoring dog. Donations in his name can be made to The Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA; or to a charity of your choosing.
