Isabel Frances Muennichow

1933 - 2016

September 17, 1933 - October 24, 2016 Isabel Frances Muennichow, age 83, passed away on October 24, 2016. Isabel was born on September 17, 1933 the only child of mother Reba and father Herman Schleifer. She attended the Bronx High School of Science and graduated from City College of New York with a degree in Social Sciences. She attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin studying Anthropology for a year where she met her future husband Hermann. After a brief stint as a statistician, Isabel became a computer programmer in the early 60s with Litton Industries. Her job took her and family from New York to Los Angeles in 1964. She went on to work for SDC, CSA and finally TRW in the early 70s where she worked for more than 20 years designing software systems and managing projects. Isabel retired in 1994 and eventually settled in Laguna Woods Village. She was extremely active in the community serving on the Third Mutual Board of Directors for 12 years. She was involved in many clubs including the Aerospace club, Theater Guild, LW Historical Society, Community Civic Association and Project 21. Isabel is survived by her son Erik, daughter in-law Susan and grandchildren Chelsea and Matthew. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Isabel's name to one of her favorite charities: Amnesty International, City College of NY Fund, The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village or the Nature Conservancy.
