Watson, Jaye Newbury
July 5, 1933 - January 1, 2011
Reverend Jaye Newbury Watson passed away surrounded by family in Colorado. Jaye suffered a stroke in January 2008 and moved to receive care near her daughter and family. Jaye was a long time resident of her beloved Laguna Beach. She was a United Methodist minister, serving with love and dedication in churches in Southern California and in North Las Vegas. Preceding Jaye in death is her husband, Rev. Robert B. Watson. Jaye is survived by her daughter, Eileen Hunter-Sweeney and son in law Marty, son Scott Hunter, grandson Adam Sweeney, stepson Chris Watson, sister Edythe Lowe, and loving nieces and nephews. Jaye's courage in the face of her struggle following her stroke, her faith, and her love of life, family, and friends has been an inspiration to many. She will be dearly missed. A celebration of Jaye's life will be held at Laguna Beach United Methodist Church on Saturday July 9, 2011 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Stroke Association, UMCOR, Caring Bridge, or a charity of your choosing.
