I grew up in the Bronx with Jim, who was known at the time as Zeke. I was a few years younger, but always admired Zeke for his keen sense of humor, and his determination to continue his education at Manhattan college.

Our deepest sympathies go to Michael, Siobhan , Patricia and all the extended Flanigan family on the passing of Jim. At the young age of 18 he brought me to see Washington DC . We subsequently met in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles where he showed both myself, my husband and children the delights of the US. He was so generous, kind and witty. Always had a story to tell and loved good company. We enjoyed all the family gatherings in Ireland where we would gather the clan, make copious cups of tea, sing, dance, eat, drink and be merry. We miss him dearly as we do his first wife , our beautiful Auntie Anne. May he rest in peace, .

Siobhan, Michael, Patricia and family. I am so very sad to hear about uncle Jim's passing. We all loved him so much. Such an intelligent, learned, charismatic, kind, witty and gentle man. 'Ni bheidh a leithead anseo aris' as they say in Ireland - 'we won't see the like of him again'. A very special person. He will be greatly missed xx
