He was the eldest child and only son of the late Frank O. McIntyre and Maxine Olive Ward McIntyre of Nebraska, Pasadena and Arcadia. I just learned of Joel's passing. Joel was a long time friend of my husband, Larry and I. My husband met him during Joel's years as the attorney for Andy Granatelli at Tune-up Masters. Joel became our business and personal attorney after the Tune-up Master years. My husband passed in 2009 but I kept in contact with Joel until about a year ago. He was an incredible man and a wonderful friend to my family. He will be greatly missed. RIP Joel! Prayers to Joel's family!

Joel was always on my list of special people at Hale, Wilson, PHS
and later as a neighbor in Arcadia. My prayers go to Sue and the
family. The world has lost a good man.

I met Joel McIntyre in the early 70's when my family moved to Arcadia. From the moment I met Joel he always treated me equal to everyone else. In reading this obituary I was actually surprised, I had no idea as a kid, of his vast accomplishments in academia. As a leader he led with love and was one of my favorites. As a "boss" (on occasion I would watch their dog while they were on vacation) he probably overpaid me, ha ha. To the McIntyre Family, I am sorry for your loss of this great man while you continue your sojourn here on Earth. I am grateful that he and others taught me at an early age that we will indeed see each other again. So Brother McIntyre, may you rest in the comfort and peace of The Almighty God until we meet again.

To Joel's family: My husband, Bevan Parry, and I first met Joel and Suzanne when they were just joining the Church. Bevan and Joel were Home Teaching partners shortly thereafter. We spent some good times with them until we moved away to New York in 1977. He did give us a bit of legal assistance when we couldn't get our deposit back from a rental agent. One letter from Joel got it sent back immediately. We were grateful. It was a goodly sum to us at the time. We are saddened to hear of his death, and send our condolences to all the family. We have remembered Joel and Suzanne all these years with fondness. May God bless all of you as you share his life with friends, neighbors, and associates.
With much respect, Bevan and Lois Parry

Joel and I were the best of buddies all through grade school and high school. He was a wonderful companion. Although we lost contact until about two years ago, he remained an indelible memory of my early years. Connecting again was a joy and the years in between hadn't dimmed our affection for one another.

He was a light in my life and, apparently, in so many others as well. That is no surprise for Joel was a rare gift to all who knew him.
