John Bradford "Brad" HAMMOND

John HAMMOND Obituary

HAMMOND, John Bradford "Brad" Passed away unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm at the age of 71, Nov. 23, in Santa Fe, NM. Brad was born in Wichita, Kansas, on October 28, 1938. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne Grais; daughters Jennifer Sykes (Phil) and Stephanie Schreiber (Devin); mother Eldora Donley; son Sean; grandsons Elliott, Jacob, Jordan and Ben; and his dog Charlie. Brad was a cowboy through and through. His passion was "Kowboyz," the store that he and his wife owned for over 20 years in Los Angeles and the last two in Santa Fe. His charm and sense of humor made him the charismatic man he was - always outfitted in a cowboy hat, boots, big silver belt buckle, turquoise jewelry, and a smile as wide as the plains he came from. Donations can be sent to any animal rescue service you wish.

I was truly shocked by Brads passing as I had just seen him a few months before. Brad & I had remained friends for all of our lives and he was a Great father to our son, Sean, who he loved very much. I was happy that Brad was able to work in the Entertainment industry for so many, many years as that was his true passion.
I have many fond memories of our young lives together and he will be greatly missed by both Sean and I

Brad was an upperclassman when I pledged the Phi Delt House. I remember him as a fine fella, funny and engaging! Apparently his qualities did not diminish over the years!
Our prayers are with his family!

Brad and I go way back to the 7th grade. We attended Mathewson Intermediate together along with John Arbuckle, Richard Roberts, and Laurie Gow. We remained friends all through high school and college and shared membership in Phi Delta Theta fraternity. During his early years, Brad and his grandfather read the funnies on the radio every Sunday morning. He participated in many dramatic events at East High and was a primary actor in Phi Delta Theta Hippodrome skits at WSU. For many years he worked as a production manager for "Wolfman Jack". He was also a comedy writer in Hollywood for a number of years. He was a very talented guy. Although I have not stayed closely in touch with him for many years, I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was one of my best friends and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
