Joseph John Doyle

Joseph John Doyle, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on September 26, 2025.
He was born on December 25, 1936, in New York City to John Doyle and Helen Kissane. Joseph attended Rice High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Rutgers University. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War.
In 1960, Joseph met his loving wife, Theresa Margaret Murphy. They were married in 1962 and built a beautiful life together, first in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, before settling in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, in 1978.
Joseph enjoyed a remarkable 40-year career with American Airlines, during which his leadership and dedication earned him numerous commendations. His work gave him the opportunity to travel the world and even included the honor of meeting the Pope.
Beyond his career, Joseph was known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a kind, generous, and fun-loving man whose warmth and storytelling touched everyone he met.
He loved playing golf and gardening, and was deeply committed to his community as a volunteer with the Los Verdes Golf League, as an usher at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, and at the Palos Verdes Resale Shop.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa; his children Brendan Doyle (Angelica), Brian Doyle (Jacqueline), Deidre Rubcich (Marc), and Maura Doyle; his grandchildren Shane (Hanlu), Kaitlyn, Megan, Jacob, Maureen, and Conner; and his great-grandson, Aiden. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor O'Connor (Joseph). He was preceded in death by his son Darren Doyle; his brothers John Doyle (Lois) and Dennis Doyle (Enid); and his parents.
Joseph will be remembered for his intelligence, generosity, and unwavering love for family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and joyful memories. A funeral service will be held on October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 5448 Crest Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. and televised at www.SJF.org.
